sewat mask

This was the badger mask i made for sewat festival for jade to wear. I started out by building up a basic head shape around jades head with raised eyes out of card board. Once this head had its basic shape sorted i then decided to saw off the end and ask jade to try it on once again and see if she could see properly- which she said she could. However on the night and afterwards she suddenly decided she couldn't. Although not knowing this at the time i then carried on building the head up from screwed up newspaper and masking tape util i got head padded out into the shape of a badger. This then painted over in white emulation to start with. Until after a few coats it started to crack as it flexed. So i then decided to wait for a bit and then paint over it with acrylic paint, which then didnt crack. To finally finish it off i added some triangle ears and painted them black along with the stripes, and also added some glasses which you cant see on the photo. They were made out of wire twisted round into circles and glued on.

From doing the show i had feedback that the whole at the front wasn't big enough and she couldn't see properly, which is obviously a issue when operating it. So from this i am going to do some further design work and make some aesthetically and ergonomic changes to the mask.
