stone statue mod rock

I have done a cast off a stone statue out of mod rock. This didn't go to well i cast straight onto it which was a mistake, because once I had laid all the mod rock on and it started to dry it got stuck onto the stone itself. Therefore when it came to getting it off it just broke up into bits. So after this i realised my mistake and i went back to the start and this time painted on some soft soap, so that the stone would be greased up, so once the mod rock was dry it could be lifted off. However again i made a mistake because the stone had lots of tight little crevices and lots of detail so it was hard to lift it off. Also i didn't let the mod rock properly dry so when i lifted it off it was floppy and wasn't hard enough. Here it was...

As you can see it clearly isn't good and there is almost no detail at all.




So For my last attempt i decided to paint on soft soap then add cling film then apply the mod rock so that the once properly dried the cling film could be lifted straight off. Also the mod rock was placed vertical and not horizontal. So that the it could be pushed better into the cracks to show more detail. This was the outcome...
