NNC Medical room poster

I am just exploring another avenue to go down with the NNC college medical room project. Instead of using paint and sketch work to communicate to the audience i decided to try just using photographic imagery with can be manipulated on photoshop into a A3 poster with a strong copy line to compliment it.

So to start off with i though of all possible things i could think of that was healthy, and decided to bring in some strawberries, some healthy juice and other odd bits of food and fruits. Then i had the idea of photographing the juice falling and splashing on the floor. As i think photography of things with a super quick shutter speed captures things that the naked eye doesn't usually see, which is quite eye catching to look at. So first things first was to photograph some juice pouring.
To capture my photos i will be using my sony a58 Dslr camera with a 18 - 55 lens. This camera is capable of 8 pictures per second continues shooting so i can capture a continues moving images while having a sharp and crispness to the image.

So these where te images i captured which did take a couple of attempts but we finally got 3 or 4 images that were very strong, interesting and clear. These were the best 3 that i captured in about 20 pictures from my continues shooting. However you have to take a lot of pictures even if you only get a few strong images.

From seeing my images i had the idea of creating a images with the strawberries within the juice falling to create a kind of sereal image, but also give clear connotations of being healthy and eating fruit.

So the image i am going to run with and manipulate in photoshop is the bottom left image as it is the sharpest and also has the most subject matter- which makes the image more interesting to look at.

This is now my base image - which i feel is extremely bold, eye-catching and bright. It has been manipulated and changed a lot in photoshop to get all the whites a pure white By adjusting the levels and the selective color option. But also sharping the image up with the sharpening tool and playing with the color levels in the reds. Now it stands out much more than the original washed out image colors to a bold image which will look strong on a A3 poster!

The next step was to photograph my strawberries. I photographed 5 or 6 different strawberries and imported them into photoshop. It was important that the images a captured were sharp so it looked as realistic as possible but also so when the image is blown up into a3 it doesn't lose quality. Once they were in photoshop i played with the sharpest filter and the selective colour to make sure the images were as bright and colourful as possible-  So when they are against the bright background they stand out and jump out to the audience.

Finally I added the copy line which is don't poor your life away. I positioned the text at differnt levels to give it a unusual look so it stood out on the paper still but not take away from the imagery. So this is my first draft.
